About me

The Journey

My journey in the business world began in India, where I worked as a Systems Analyst at Siemens India after graduating from Thapar University.

Driven by a curiosity to understand the intricate workings of organizations, I transitioned to management studies. I earned my MBA from Auburn University at Montgomery in 2013, followed by a PhD from Auburn University in 2018.

This shift from engineering to management has given me a distinctive perspective on organizational dynamics and strategic decision-making.

Research & Life

My research focuses on pivotal moments in a company's lifecycle - mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and downsizing. I'm fascinated by how these events shape organizations and impact their stakeholders.
My work has found homes in prestigious publications like the Journal of Management, Harvard Business Review, and the Journal of Business Research.
When I'm not in the classroom or buried in research, you might find me exploring Iowa's beautiful state parks or trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
I believe that just as in business, life is about continuous learning and adaptation.I'm always eager to connect with fellow researchers, students, and industry professionals. Whether you're interested in discussing the latest trends in M&As, sharing ideas for a potential collaboration, or just want to chat about the transition from engineering to business academia, don't hesitate to reach out!

Detailed RESUME
“The power of light is felt more in darkness, all you need is a spark!”

My teaching philosophy centers on bringing the dynamic world of business to life in the classroom. I believe in creating an immersive learning environment that bridges theoretical concepts with real-world applications. To achieve this, I regularly incorporate discussions of current business news, analyzing recent strategic decisions of companies like Apple, Tesla, or Netflix that students can easily relate to. I encourage students to follow business podcasts such as "Masters of Scale" or "How I Built This" to gain insights from industry leaders.

By weaving these elements into our curriculum, I aim to spark students' curiosity and help them draw connections between academic theories and practical business strategies. This approach not only enhances their understanding of core concepts but also cultivates critical thinking skills essential for navigating the complex, ever-evolving business landscape. My goal is to inspire students to become active observers of the business world, constantly seeking to apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios.

CASE STUDIES

I am a big proponent for Open Education Resources as I believe high quality education should be accessible and affordable for every student irrespective of their background. In order to advance this mission, I have created a number of case studies that I use in my classroom and encourage everyone to adopt as well.
